Moneysupermarket.com is running a competition called Passion for Fashion to find Autumn Winter stylish looks while not breaking the bank. The brief is to find fabulous outfits in each category under £200, being suitable for the British winter and also representing great value. So here goes. I hope you enjoy and find some bargains to boot.

Party

Party £195.99

Black drape Tux Blazer from Miss Selfridge £49, Crossed shoulder Strap dress from Mango £35, Pointy Toe Stiletto in Black from Matalan £14, Gold stud suede Clutch from Topshop £47, Bracelet Cuff from H&M £4.99, Zelda deco ring from Accessorize £10, Silver round pave earring from Vicenza at Debenhams £8, Links necklace from Mango £28. The Whole outfit comes to £195.99.

This super feminine dress from Mango and elegant stilettos from Matalan are complemented with the suede stud bag from Topshop and studded bangle giving a nod to your inner Rock chick. The classic tuxedo jacket is always worth investing in as it makes an appearance year after year on the catwalk. Christian Dior’s Fall/Winter 2012/2012 collection was an inspiration for this look.

Casual

Casual £198.38

Chocolate bow cloche hat from Bhs £20, La skinny fit cord trousers in berry from boohoo £20, F&F knee length quilted riding boots from Tesco £29.50, Blue denim check yolk shirt from New Look £24.99, Brown tweed heritage turnup blazer from New Look £29.99, Fairisle sweater from Next £20, Gold tone bracelet watch from River Island £25, Tan Doctors Tote from Matalan £14, Womens vintage leather belt from uniqlo £14.90. The Whole outfit comes to £198.38.

This Autumn/Winter the Heritage trend featured heavily on the catwalk from Céline, Ralph Lauren and  Burberry. It is a classic and timeless look and the pieces can be used in your wardrobe for seasons to come. The outfit is casual and comfortable,  yet conveying a “Lady of the Manor” aura. The earthy colours of this trend have a distinct Autumn feel- berries, browns and greens and the corduroy, plaids, fairisle knits and tailoring will be everywhere.

Outdoor

Outdoor £185.98

Fur lined Jacket from H&M £39.99, cotton cable knit jumper from Mango £29.99, Ultra skinny jeans from Warehouse £42, Washed leather look rucksack in tan from Matalan £12, Chunky two tone Fairisle beanie from Accessorize £18,  Oriental Cut out Friendship bracelet from Accessorize £4, Brown stud Biker Boot from River island £40. The whole outfit comes to £185.98.

The khaki parka is a major trend for Autumn winter and this one has the added bonus of having the fur lined hood. The whole outfit ensures warmth and comfort while enjoying the Autumn/Winter weather. I can imagine a long walk, kicking through Autumn leaves with these super comfy furry boots from River Island.

First Date

Black cowboy boots from F&F at Tesco £14, Leather zip front biker jacket from New Look £59.99, Faux fur leather tote from Matalan £14, crochet dress from Zara £39.99, Disc charm friendship bracelet from Accessorize £4, River Island Light Brown Feather Hoop Earrings £4.50. The whole outfit comes to £136.48.

One of my favourite trends for A/W 2012 is the Western trend inspired from Isabel Marant and Rodarte. This is a perfect outfit for a first date giving a romatic vibe yet cool and laid back.

Office Wear

Office Wear £195

Asos Premium Blazer in Ombre Print £65, Asos Premium Trousers in Ombre Print £42, Jacket from H&M £40, Lace Embroidered Sheer Shirt from George at Asda £13, Metal Toe Cap court shoe from Matalan £16, Gold Zipped Tote in Gold from Matalan £12, Beaded Pearl set from George at Asda £7. The whole outfit comes to £195.

The trouser suit is back. However its not the padded shoulder variety of the eighties. The catwalk shows had opulent fabrics, fabulous print and slimline  silhouettes, most notably at Miu Miu and Prada. This suit from Asos has all of the above plus a rich colbalt  blue colour which is popular everywhere at the moment . This will be a very versatile piece for the office and easy to wear too.

Overall I think the British High Street is a great place to shop. With each outfit combination I have tried to show that you can have a luxurious look without spending too much.  Throughout this exercise I have also though about a capsule wardrobe and being able to mix and match any of the pieces.
